1. Make sure the AUX port is operating in flow mode.

2. Power off the firewall, connect the RJ-45 connector of the console cable to the AUX port, and then

connect the DB-9 (female) connector to the serial port of the configuration terminal.

3. Power on the firewall.

NOTE:

• Username and password are required for AUX port login and the user level should be specified.

• The AUX port can operate in flow or protocol mode, but must be operating in flow mode to be used as

a backup for the console port.

• By default, the AUX port operates in flow mode.

• Use the async mod { flow | protocol } command to switch between the flow mode and the protocol

mode. For more information, see the firewall command references.

Cooling system failures

Symptom

When the temperature inside the firewall exceeds 75°C (167°F), the following information appears on

the configuration terminal:

The output shows that the temperature inside the firewall has exceeded the upper threshold 75°C (167°F).

In this case, the fans of the firewall rotate at full speed.

Generally, after the fans rotate at full speed for certain time, the temperature inside the firewall will drop

down below 75°C (167°F), and the following information appears on the configuration terminal:
