Setting the system clock

To ensure that a device can cooperate with other devices, you need to ensure that the system clock of

the device is precise

Follow these steps to set the system clock:

Displaying the system clock

Timestamps depend on the system clock. The time of the system clock is the same as that displayed by

the display clock command, and is determined by commands clock datetime and clock timezone. If

you configure neither of the commands, the display clock command displays the original system clock.

Table 5-1 shows the results of different system clock configuration ways. The meanings of the

parameters in the Configuration column are as follows:

z 1: Use the clock datetime command to set the system date and time.

z 2: Use the clock timezone command to set the time zone, with the offset being n (-9 to +9).

z [1]: Use the clock datetime command to set the system date and time. This step is optional.

z In this example, the original system clock reads 2005/1/1 1:00:00.

Setting the User Connection Timeout Time

You can use the idle-timeout command to set the user connection timeout time. If a user’s connection

stays idle for such a period of time, the device will tear down the connection automatically.

Follow these steps to set the user connection timeout time:
